I went in a completely different direction today, away from the modern linear patterns of the last couple of days, and back to the medallions of previous days. It all started with some plates spotted in a photo of a shop in Óbidos, Portugal.
I started by focusing on the round shape, and the floral motifs, and of course the colors. But somehow it went a different direction, reminding me again of one of my favorite American traditions, bandanas, whose imagery isn't really American at all. I'm also reminded of sheriff's badges, which could be because I associate bandanas with the American west.
