After a week of dark, deep patterns I decided to lighten up today, while further exploring the relationship of pattern and color when trying to create a feeling of space on a flat surface. This one can be a bit dizzy-making. The organization of the motif was inspired by a sentence on the Wikipedia page for Lousã, Portugal: "The oldest evidence provides an indication of a human presence in this territory from the Roman occupation of the Iberian peninsula. Examples of this include the funerary pyres, rooftops, tile, glass utensils, coins and the remains of the roadways, in various points of within the municipality, including the urban perimeter of Lousã and Serpins." So, thinking about the coins, tile and glass utensils this pattern appeared.
