The last few patterns have been a bit busy so I decided to simplify things a bit today.
I looked to the Portuguese city, Nelas, for inspiration. Nelas was first settled by Neolithic and Stone Age cultures between 5000 and 3000 BC. Megalithic monuments remain in the area. Roman era road ruins can still be seen. The modern town was created in 1852. Today the town center has a mix of modern and historical references. This sleek modern fountain at the municipal building is surrounded by rough cobblestones. For color in my pattern, I looked at the red tile roofs and the blue-green of the fountain water.
